About The Event
The Recruiting Officer by Richard Farquhar will be performed by Rain Or Shine Theatre Company on the open-air stage. One of the most popular plays of its time this is a delightful comedic romp through 18th Century Shrewsbury following crooked Army recruiting officers Captain Plume and Sergeant Kite as they persuade men to take the King's shilling by any means, legal or otherwise. Vivacious Sylvia, haughty Melinda, melancholy Worthy and foppish Captain Brazen are their accomplices in deceit, passion, sword fights and surprises.
Gates open 6.00pm, performance from 7.30pm.
Hot and cold soft drinks, snacks and pastries by Baker and White from Southwick will be on site.
Bring picnics, wine and friends with chairs, rugs and umbrellas (not that you'll need these!)
